A Blessed Thanksgiving

It's been a morning to be thankful for with homemade pumpkin spice bread hot
from the oven, hot cups of coffee, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade,
all of it shared with my family of course. I figured I would list all of the things
I am thankful for but frankly I find this morning that it's more enjoyable to
exclaim them throughout my day instead. This morning my husband and I
have been having our own moments of saying what silly things we are
thankful for (and we decided that our weenie dog is thankful for the
                  dog fight she witnessed down below our balcony.) However I will say this;

I have a very blessed life despite the hardships of this and the past year and I
am thankful for the strength to get through it, the strength to persue my dreams,
and for God, my family and friends.

"Our Father, for this day and our blessings, we offer to Thee our thanks. Amen." - The
prayer my Great Grandfather always said. Indeed DaddyPop, indeed.

Five Ways to Add Old Hollywood Glamour To Your Home:
1. Mix metals - Whoever said metals shouldn't be mixed hasn't glimpsed at the magic that happens when a room is filled with gold and silver details accompanied by mirrors and crystal. The result is a beautifully opulent room!

2. A fur (or faux fur) throw - Tossed about on a chair or couch, this room accessory makes any snuggling instantly more glamorous.  (This luxury can also be in the form of a pillow or rug.)

3.  Color Pallette - The go-to-never-fail feminine color pallette tends to be camel, ivory, and soft pink. I'm a fan of also adding small bits of blue here and there (it adds depth.)

4. Art deco lines + Plush furniture - Balance out more comfy couches and chairs with sleek, art deco pieces like tables, bar carts, coffee tables, mirrors, etc.

5. Have a bar set with alcohol, crystal glasses, and an ice bucket - What ALWAYS happens in every hold Hollywood movie? A cock…

Blossoming from Grief

In 2017 I lost my darling husband, Jason Musick, in a tragic accident, changing my life within seconds. It seems almost needless to say, but after such a tremendous, heart-shattering loss, many parts of my life were put on hold, this blog included.

Truth told I wasn't sure how to proceed with my blog; much of it was based on my life as it existed before his death. The parties we threw, the dinners we cooked, the house we made a home, the vintage lifestyle we lead, the music we enjoyed together. To me those were the products of our love, the promise that we would live a full life together saying "yes" always, especially to the magic life had to offer. Much of the entries, though they were intended to apply to anyone in a relationship or not, were none-the-less from my perspective which was lovingly based on my marriage and partnership that had been in the making for 12 years. How does one write about doing wifely things when one is no longer a wife? My identity as a wife…

4 Daily Cleaning Checklists To Make Your Life Easier

In practicing my New Year's Resolution of, "habits = happiness" I began a very extensive search into cleaning checklists. I'll reiterate something I've said it other posts -  It’s not that I want to be Susie Homemaker, but I fully recognize that fact that a huge pile of laundry is stressful to me. It is obvious to me now that I become giddy at the sight of a well-made bed. One day at a time works better for me than letting my home's accouterments scatter around the household until I have to spend and entire day (or two) trying to put things back together. I refuse to treat my house like humpty-dumpty.

Better yet, I like that idea that anyone can drop by my home at almost anytime and I'm not frantically cramming the mess into a closet to hide now, then sort a year from now.

A home kept daily means more time to do things like this (which is a #lifegoal for me. Duh:)

I've been experimenting with 2 different methods:
1. Focus on one room per week
2. Focus o…
