For those of you who love peonies
wants flowers to resemble ruffles or fabric. They are historic and yet delicate,
feminine and yet have an almost ruffian shape, with petals that turn every
which way. In this way they seem adventurous, light-hearted, and literary.

I have a lot of work to do this week, mostly organizing projects at my mother's house. And once I have finished, in this room I would like to luxuriate and read my new book. Sorting through old family documents, photos, letters, and so forth is one of my many projects. I am thrilled to have this responsibility because my family has kept items that go back before the civil war. This also finally gives me the chance to indulge in the many wonderful acid free books that exist. I am hoping to have a mostly complete family tree by the end of this endeavor. I will be scanning all of these documents and will blogging about the interesting ones that I find!

Sorry my weenie dog is staring at you
While waiting for my licenses and permits to arrive, I have been practicing making flower arrangements. Because I am without my wholesale agricultural permit for the moment, I am making do with normal flowers one finds at the grocery store. Lately I have an adoration for peach tones and I am taking it out on flowers.
