{to Chicago!}

...My heavens what a day this has already been and will be! Lots to do, show tonight, then catching the red-eye to Chicago...
Happy Friday! xo, Jolie

{new music & new inspiration}

Aren't these photos absolutely lovely? I highly reccomend following @luxuryandopulance on instagram, a new discovery after a comment on my instagram.
 It's a bit of a scattered Tuesday for me, being that there is so much to do and there are so many little things to share. I've come to so many realizations and conclusions already this week, following...
{1} The Grammys - I'm completely inspired & know what to do next {2} Last night's rehearsal with a new endeavor (more news soon I promise!...let's just say I played a tambourine for the first time in my life & another hint, the evening was rather soulful) {3} Hearing myself on BBC Radio on a playlist with Jamie Cullum {listen here} Many thanks to John Hellings!
Have a happy week! xo, Jolie

{On waters}

Now and again it's essential for me to reconnect with nature, to replenish sources much depleted, to look at sunshine and waters rather than contracts and emails. & That's just what I did yesterday and I'm a better person for it. And now! -- something extraordinary has come from it, a next step, some courage, and some happiness!

Do yourself a favor and spend some time out in the world this week. xo, Jolie

{Valentine Showgirl}

{Valentine Cabaret Starring Jolie Goodnight and Her Stardust Band} --Indulge this Valentine's Weekend with Jolie Goodnight and Her Stardust Band for the second annual "Valentine Cabaret." Her entrancing voice drips of nostalgia as she sings 1940's classics in lieu of the World War II era, when swing and jazz permeated smoky cabaret rooms. Each of her songs has a story to be shared and she'll expose even more to you, as she becomes unlaced. Be embraced, have a taste, and fall in love with Jolie Goodnight Saturday February 15th. The Firehouse Lounge, a sultry and inviting speakeasy will envelop you in a romantic ambiance. Reserve an intimate candlelit table for two, a romantic swanky booth, or celebrate in the party atmosphere seated ne…

{Weekend Shows & some things to share with you}

It's been a mad-dash showgirl kind of week and the weekend is no different -- rushing to nail and hair appointments, rehearsing, scheduling, emailing, and later, performing {tomorrow it's off to Dallas for what is always, and one can expect to be, a fabulous time.}

Many fantastic things have come of this busy week, some of which I still cannot share, and some I'm delighted to share here & now:

{Currently Reading} Lucille Ball & My Newest Act

If you know me at all you'll know that I'm an avid reader, as indicated by the stacks of books by the bedside, the somewhat disheveled and full-to-the-brim bookcases in my living room, the choice two books on the top of my weekend bag. Reading is the escape from my ever busy mind. And I'll let you in on a little secret...

Many of my burlesque acts draw inspiration from literary characters -- (Can you guess which act was inspired by Madam Bovary?)

And I must admit, I feel lately as though I'm in a relationship with Lucille Ball. I've been reading her autobiography and I'm absolutely helpless (or hopeless, I'm not sure which.) Do I look tired to you? It's most likely because Lucille and I have been spending nights together, completely unable to sleep, as her story has me wrapped around her little finger.

I've always admired and learned from the comedienne, but now I'm falling in love with the dramatic Lucy as well. This elegant Lucy is reinforcin…

{From Jolie's Desk}

Working more & more, though luckily all of it pleasant -- there are fun things in store for me! A show in Chicago, a Valentine's weekend show in Austin and more surprises to come...but first the leg work, followed by the ribbons and bows and threads of a new costume for a new act. And of course I always find time to enjoy the flowers left by Mama on the desk, notes taken from yesterday's modeling workshop, & to write the thank you's owed to those who brighten my day.

{From the Jolie Goodnight Desk} - -
(1)Many Thanks - to Huey Morgan's radio show for featuring one of the tunes from my record - {listen here}
(2) Merci beaucou - to Kevin Bryan for the record review

{Hey! Get to Work}

{4 Ways to indulge in Winter Whites}

1.  Add heavy white linens to your bed. Pile on the fluffy textures!  2. Treat yourself with some soft and cozy white slippers. Getting the mail at the end of the driveway will be so much more pleasant!
Where I once thought the first of the year was time to shed all things winter in order to shed the remnants of the holidays, I now find it not only wonderfully indulgent, but necessary to fill my life with the warmth that winter accoutrements bring. An icy white faux fur with a silk back tossed on the foot of the bed, strings of white lights & candles in the bathroom, softened white linens on the dining and sofa tables, wool capes and cashmere scarves. The Southerner in me is reluctant to recognize that there is such a thing as winter following the holidays, as if "Happy New Year" is equal to the coming of spring...but it's not, and I'm growing more and more in love with the winter whites & soft pinks, mid afternoon cups of tea & toasty fires, bare tress…
